Many people buy bottled water at prices much greater than gasoline prices for our cars. How about you? You do this because you want better water right? Where did that water come from? Have you seriously investigated your water? So let’s look at both the cost and quality of the water you are drinking…

Is the water you drink costly?

Statistics from the International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) show that Americans consumed 10.9 billion gallons of bottled water in 2014 – 34.2 gallons for every man, woman, and child in the country.

If you spend $1 on a 16.9-ounce bottle of water, you’re effectively paying $7.57 per gallon – 3,785 times more than you’d pay for the same amount of water from a faucet. 

Spending $1 on a bottle of water every now and then isn’t that big a deal, but when you make a regular habit of it, it really adds up. If you buy just one $1 bottle of water each day, your annual spending on bottled water comes to $365. Getting the same amount of water from your tap would cost you less than $0.10.

If we drink the minimum recommended amount of 64 ounces of water each day….at $1.00 per 16.9-ounce bottle this amounts to $114 per month…for a family of four this is $456 minimum per month. I drink the recommended Kangen Water amount each day of half my weight in ounces so the comparative cost of the $1.00 per bottle would cost me about $186 per month.

Moreover, when you pay a price premium for bottled water, what you’re getting is often just tap water that’s been filtered or purified in some way. Both Dasani, bottled by the Coca-Cola company, and Aquafina, bottled by PepsiCo, start out with public water sources.

And then you have tap water or faucet water as an alternative…usually for drinking, washing your vegetables and cooking. Have ever given a few minutes to seriously investigate what is in this water?  Since our bodies are made up of 60-75% water…and that we can live only a limited number of days without it…let’s look a some professional reports.

And this question applies to your body…your children’s bodies…your pets…as well as to our environment!

And the real questions about bottled water begin with the plastic bottles containing BPA and which have been heated or pasteurized.  What was the source of the water? Did it really come from a mountain stream or your local water utility? Or was it produced by reverse osmosis removing the minerals from the water? Then there are the questions about how old is this water? What is the pH? Is it acetic or alkaline? What is the ORP or oxidation reduction potential? Meaning…is the water oxidizing or antioxidizing? Is your water microbial? Do you really want your body to oxidize…like that freshly cut apple that turns dark very soon after cutting it and leaving it open to the atmosphere? Do you think it might be worthwhile for the sake of your body and your health if you checked this out?

And by the way, what about the impact the left over plastic bottles are having on our environment? Are we destroying our oceans and other waterways with plastic garbage?
