LET’S BRING BACK THE AMERICAN DREAM!

American Dream

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The American Dream is a national ethos of the United States, a set of ideals in which freedom includes the opportunity for prosperity and success, and an upward social mobility achieved through hard work. In the definition of the American Dream by James Truslow Adams in 1931, “life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement” regardless of social class or circumstances of birth.[1]

The idea of the American Dream is rooted in the United States Declaration of Independence which proclaims that “all men are created equal” and that they are “endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable Rights” including “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

Do you remember that the United States was once the land of “The American Dream”? I do and it was really true! I listened to the economics numbers today and was amazed to hear where our country has plummeted from the leadership position of leading the world in virtually all measurements. Our situation is highly disturbing and one which I call upon all Americans to express their strong concerns and wishes to all of our elected political leaders.

If you didn’t hear the numbers today…I want to share them with you…

Number of Americans eligible for work however not working last week: 90 Million

Number of Americans that stopped looking for work last week: 663,000

Number of Americans filing for employment for first time last week: 388,000

Number of Americans filing for disability last week 82,000

Number of Americans total on disability last week 8 million

Number of Americans that dropped out of the work force last week 500,000

With the reduced number of jobs and people looking for work 7.6% unemployment rate.

Actual population of the United States June 2012 – 314 million
Actual unemployment rate when considering all people eligible for work 15.0%

Also Capital wealth of Americans now reduced 25%-40% during last few years

Now that we see the reality of the situation it is so important that we understand the circumstances of millions of Americans and find ways to reach out to them with jobs, opportunity, hope and encouragement. This is not intended to be a political position on anyone…it is intended to be a sober statement of realization of where our country is and what we as citizens have the responsibilities for doing. I believe that we must focus on the economic welfare of our citizens and our country and use our energies constructively to bring about change that is healthy for all Americans. I for one am very grateful that I have an opportunity to pursue financial independence for myself as well as to reach out to many others and offer to many a hand as well!
