Consider A Plan For Personal and Small Business Risks

Consider A Plan For Personal and Small Business Risks

Do you or your family ever feel at risk about anything? You may be so fortunate that you are blessed with total “peace of mind”! Or maybe some risks concern you. If they do then the next question is do you think you should do anything to minimize those risks? This post suggests that you take a few minutes to reflect on major risk areas in your lives and decide if you should take any actions. As humans, we are much more concerned with fear than with any other emotion that we experience…so why not explore ways to address our fears?

  • Financial Budgeting and Cash Flow Risks… Includes meeting your financial obligations such as paying your mortgage and bills and having enough money to do all the things you want to do including having extra money for travel, college, vacation, retirement, second home and more!
  • Career risks… Are you satisfied with your career and future employment situation? Are your earnings needs being met? Look good for the future? Do you have a Plan B?  Could additional and multiple income streams benefit your lifestyle and degree of financial independence?
  • Disability Income Risks… In the event of accident or long-term illness do you have protection for these possibilities?
  • Personal and Family Legal Risks… Includes those events that are subject to laws, actions by others who may want to file legal actions against you, by people who may not abide by the laws and adversely affect you, traffic violations, court representation and accidents,  which occur and may bring significant legal actions and consequences. What happens to you and your family in case of trivial or traumatic legal issues? Do you have any way to cover these costs? Do you know and trust good attorneys in all fields of law?
  • Identity Theft Risks… The risks associated with someone stealing your personal name and identity and using it or selling it to someone else, using your Social Security number and filing your tax return or using it for employment, your Drivers License number to avoid arrests or to gain the ability to drive, your checking account to gain access to your cash assets, and credit cards to purchase goods illegally. For (12) years now this has been the largest consumer complaint crime in the U.S. and some 30,000 new victims of identity theft wake up each morning to this very horrible event that many times takes professionals to access your private data and years to restore.
  • Medical Risks… Includes health issues whether caused by natural or accidental reasons. Most everyone would agree that if you do not have good health that all of your other aspects of life are very much in question. It is imperative that we maintain good health! Do you have good medical protection to protect you against depletion of your assets as well as adequate cash reserve and/or disability income insurance to sustain you through an extended period of time?
  • Home Ownership and Rental Risks… Includes those risks that occur in the event of fire, flood or personal activities on properties. Do you have insurance on your property, personal items, and personal injury, accident or lawsuit?
  • Automobile Risks… Includes risks of damage or destruction of property and injury to individuals. Do you have also have legal coverage to pay your family’s legal costs to represent you in the case of being charged with accidental homicide? Ask your agent if you have this legal representation? Rarely does an automobile policy include such coverage.
  • Small Business Ownership Risks… Includes thousands of issues involving legal contracts, reading and modifying contracts, legal advice and counsel, legal representation in case of suits,  legal costs, property costs, liability costs, healthcare costs and many others.  Do you have a plan for affordable legal services as a small business owner?

Do you have a budget planned for each of these potential risk areas? Do you think that it may be a good idea to protect yourselves for these risks?

It is my intention to inform you about solutions to solve these issues, at costs that you can afford, who can help you with each, and to give you options of what to do next.  Just contact me on my email at dannorris42@gmail.com or call me on 407-749-9395.

What Should I Do To Maximize Small Business Profits for 2015

We now have some (60) days left in the year and many small business are thinking…

What Should I Do To Maximize Small Business Profits for 2015

By Dan Norris

We are in what is called the “selling season” and if you are involved in marketing consumer services or products these next two months are critical for maximizing your marketing programs to attract the greatest number of prospects and customers possible.

There are several important action steps that you can consider to achieve and exceed your goals for 2013…as well as to begin preparing for 2014. Consider these steps…

  • Step up your marketing programs to attract prospects and customers
  • Consider special pricing and promotions whenever possible
  • Meet with your staff to discuss their ideas of how to finish strong in 2013
  • Talk with your tax professional to discuss tax-saving actions for 2013
  • Talk with your legal professionals to discuss legal questions and get advice
  • Talk with your business consultant professionals to discuss issues and their advice
  • Talk with you insurance broker professionals to discuss issues and their advice
  • Review your staffing needs and performance…take actions where necessary
  • Attend your local B2B connection groups to interact with your peers
  • Attend your local social activities to renew acquaintances and maximize contacts
  • Begin your business planning for the year 2014

Each of these actions would produce better results if you are able to give them meaningful thought before tackling each one.

Let’s take the first item for example…your marketing programs. I would begin by defining the marketing programs that you now have and decide if you want to change or add to what you are doing. Would you like to attract prospects 24/7 as opposed to your having to find them? How can you go about doing this? What is your physical marketing program? What is your internet marketing program? Should you be involved in social media? How? What actions could you implement immediately with little cost that could increase your prospect traffic significantly?

By taking each of these potential action items individually and asking yourself the questions that are important…you will be able to take a critical look at how you can make improvements.

By asking for participation from your employees (if any), and by asking questions and seeking advice from all of your key professionals on taxes, legal matters, and business matters you are leveraging on the advice of experts in many fields. The small business owner can be much more successful by seeking the advice and counsel of affordable and competent professionals!

How to Maximize Your Profits

by Jessica Kent, Demand Media

Business owners want their bottom line to be as profitable as possible. To maximize profits, the owner must be diligent in cutting frivolous costs and boost productivity among employees. This is an ongoing process that often faces many challenges. The key to success is to always remember that at the end of the day, the business’s profits will serve two purposes. The profits will be reinvested in the business to allow the business to grow. The profits will also be distributed to the business owner.

Control Costs to Maximize Profits

The reduction of specific fixed and variable expenses can improve your profit picture. First a word of caution. Do not needlessly cut costs. Legitimate expenses provide the framework for your business and you don’t want to cut your operating budget too deeply. However, you must be ever vigilant when it comes to controlling expenses. Each year, expenses have a way of creeping skywards. It is up to you, to evaluate if those funds are being spent for their maximum effect.

If you are interested in getting your business started as rapidly as possible and at the lowest cost,  then you need mentors that can share keys to success with you.  You will need key top-level mentors and a team of mentors at varying levels of expertise if you are to be successful and reduce the startup time to a minimum.  The next article by the Small Business Administration of the Federal Government estimates start-up costs of a small business at around $30,000. Frankly I don’t know many people who would even consider starting a business if it were going to cost that much. Consider getting started with  few hundred dollars or more.

Don’t Believe The Debt Ceiling Hype: The Federal Government Can Survive Without An Increase

Jeffrey Dorfman, Contributor

Ignore what you hear and read in the news. The federal government actually reached the legal debt ceiling about four months ago. Since then, the government has been financing its monthly budget deficit by stealing/borrowing money from other government funds, like the federal government employees’ pension fund. In about two weeks, the government will run out of tricks to keep operating as if nothing has happened. If the debt ceiling is not raised by then, the government has to balance its budget.

That’s right. As much as the politicians and news media have tried to convince you that the world will end without a debt ceiling increase, it is simply not true. The federal debt ceiling sets a legal limit for how much money the federal government can borrow. In other words, it places an upper limit on the national debt. It is like the credit limit on the government’s gold card.

Benghazi

Benghazi

Benghazi Terrorist Attacks
www.theblaze.com

What is the truth?

This country is extremely important to me…and I pray as important to you as well.

I heard tonight that only 46% of Americans are following the current news of the day.

This message is to those who are following current news and want to know more, and to encourage others to become engaged in the events occurring in the U.S.A.

We now have three major crises in this country as a result of the Obama Administration.

First, the 4 Americans killed in Benghazi as a result of terrorist attacks…after our Ambassador asked for more protection for Benghazi….which were refused..after the British government closed their consulate in Benghazi two months earlier. Hillary Clinton is the person responsible for this decision, only to be confirmed by Barack Obama.

Second, the IRS Attacks on the Tea Party and other organizations that state beliefs in the U.S. Constitution. This appears to be a direct result of the Democratic Congress requests, the Obama Administration, and the liberal media,  to intimidate conservative groups.

Third, the Attorney General’s office taking over the phone lines of the Associated Press with the use of government power and the courts. The AG recuses himself and as a result supposedly does not have to answer any questions. Today he said he would not request an independent counsel…another decision to keep the truth from the American people. In all three cases, President Barack Obama, the Attorney General and the President’s Press Secretary refused to offer honest responses to the American people. Their typical and expected responses were that they needed more information. Ironically they can comment on any other crises of the country, but not one which questions their integrity and their obligation to act in the best interests of the people of this country.

President Obama and his administration portrays either “total incompetence” or absolute “lying” and “stonewalling” about all of these issues.

The country’s economy is in total recession, and the president and his administration continues employing stifling regulatory controls, additional taxation, and implementation of a horrendous health care plan to further disrupt the recovery. In the meantime, the president refuses to allow important oil pipeline contruction while attacking coal production. I sincerely pray for our Congress and Senators to begin addressing the issues of this country immediately.

Thank You Ted Cruz For Speaking For Americans Against ObamaCare Funding!

obamacarespeech2cruz.floor.gov

Millions of Americans want to thank you Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Marco Rubio, Rand Paul and other supporters for speaking for 21+ hours on the Senate Floor on behalf of defunding ObamaCare! Your marathon speech created a lot of good according to many opinions, and you did this in the face of much vocal displeasure by some of your Republican colleagues and especially across the aisle with all of the Democrats.

The reason so many disliked your position is that they will have to answer to their voting constituents on their positions on ObamaCare. This Affordable Care Act Bill, which is in fact is grossly unaffordable, is an albatross hung on the necks of American citizens and businesses. For years the Democrats have promoted a government controlled health care system that would totally control all citizens both with healthcare and their financial lives. They now have legislation in place to do this…and are tightening the noose to get it implemented. Many Americans have no idea what is happening to them.

For this reason I for one am very pleased to see that true American Patriots have expressed the dissatisfaction of the American Public where 60-70% of the population do not want ObamaCare. Today’s post is dedicated to conservative Senators for speaking up for Americans…

Thank You Ted Cruz For Speaking For Americans Against ObamaCare Funding!

Many campaign promises by President Obama were made about ObamaCare which have turned out to be totally untrue. Not only were the American People misled but now the President, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi refuse to stop and acknowledge the trainwreck which is happening, however have granted more than 1400 waivers to companies and organizations to be exempt from the Bill.  Here are a few examples of total untruths presented by President and the Democratic Party…

Obamacare Will Increase Health Spending By $7,450 For A Typical Family of Four

Chris ConoverChris Conover, Contributor      9/23/2013

It was one of candidate Obama’s most vivid and concrete campaign promises. Forget about high minded (some might say high sounding) but gauzy promises of hope and change. This candidate solemnly pledged on June 5, 2008: “In an Obama administration, we’ll lower premiums by up to $2,500 for a typical family per year….. We’ll do it by the end of my first term as President of the United States.”  Unfortunately, the experts working for Medicare’s actuary have (yet again[1]) reported that in its first 10 years, Obamacare will boost health spending by “roughly $621 billion” above the amounts Americans would have spent without this misguided law.

Congress’s ObamaCare Exemption

The President intervenes to give Members and staff a break.

To adapt H.L. Mencken, nobody ever went broke underestimating the cynicism and self-dealing of the American political class. Witness their ad-libbed decision, at the 11th hour and on the basis of no legal authority, to create a special exemption for themselves from the ObamaCare health coverage that everybody else is mandated to buy.

The Affordable Care Act requires Members of Congress and their staffs to participate in its insurance exchanges, in order to gain first-hand experience with what they’re about to impose on their constituents. Harry Truman enrolled as the first Medicare beneficiary in 1965, and why shouldn’t the Members live under the same laws they pass for the rest of the country?

Read more:

_________________________________________________________________________

Millions of Americans and Businesses are being adversely affected by the Affordable Care Act Legislation.  It is inconceivable that so many politicians are choosing to ignore the requests of the American People to stop the implementation of the Bill at this time. But this has been their plan all along and Mr. O says hell nor high water is not going to stop them. To quote the usually articulate President this week….”It is not about you…they are messing with me”. Let’s recognize the rights of the people to disagree and act as a leader sir…citizens don’t like your policy…you have lived on being liked for far too long.

Certainly politicians now turning a deaf ear to the public will at some time soon have to face them and answer as to why they chose not to speak up with any objections other than…”this was voted in by the Congress, the Senate, the President and the Supreme Court and no matter how bad it is or how much damage it will do…we will keep this Bill in place”. This answer truthfully translates into…(“we slammed this health care bill down Republican throats because we owned the House, the Senate, the Presidency,  and the lame stream biased Media…and it really didn’t matter what the American people thought about it…they are not smart enough to understand it anyway-we want a federal health care program”).

The Bill was rushed through passage without reading it in the middle of the night by Democrats only, with Nancy Pelosi saying “we have to pass this 2700 page bill to find out what is in it”. The 2700 pages have now been interpreted into 20,000 pages of HHS regulations, most of which are very destructive to people, businesses and the economy of this country. I repeat, more than 1400 waivers have been given by the President to exempt thousands of people and organizations, especially Congress, from the Bill.  This is the height of hipocrosy. The implementation is not on schedule and some factions have received waivers like business which has been granted a one year delay…whereas such a delay has been denied for the public.

In my humble opinion the idiom “pig In a poke” truly applies to the Affordable Health Care Act. Others say it was passed  by “bait and switch” or “sleight of hand”. It will be up to the American voting public to decide if they will consider this to be true and to accept what is being thrust upon them.

Seven Powerful & Effective Methods To Help People Get What They Want Most

July 1, 2013 By 7 Comments

Think about it. If you’re in the space of working with people in an all volunteer organization (like I do), you’ve got to have some very highly developed leadership skills.

This is a stark contrast then, for example, being an employer where you can hold certain things over people’s heads to get them to do what needs to be done. Like firing them.      Read more

Tax Reform - Can It Be Done?

The Fair Tax
Tax Reform - Can It Be Done?
Will our Legislators Do The Right Thing for American and Relinquish Their Control Over Americans?

I write this Blog post tonight with concerns and fears that  government and IRS representatives will seek me out to question my patriotism and my political preferences for expressing these opinions.  I am really embarrassed to admit this however our country is not the same as it used to be. My choices for government are smaller size rather than larger, fiscal budgeting, much less spending and more constraint, adherence to the Constitution and Laws of the land, avoidance of waste, and changing the tax code to be fair to every citizen as opposed to favoring specific sectors of the economy as it does now. The Internal Revenue Code and the Legal System give political parties in this country incredible amounts of power that can be wielded to control political opinion, businesses, and the population as a whole. We know that either party can be in power at one time or another and citizens should not fear that any government is going to penalize them for free speech. Free speech is the pillar of our democracy!

As I consider all of the possible actions that we could take to make this country a better

IRS
Justice In Our Tax System

place to live, my favorite is Tax Reform. Why? The reasons are many.

Our government controls each citizen with the current legal Internal Revenue Code. The Internal Revenue Code consists of thousands of pages of regulations and can be viewed online in its entirety at http://www.fourmilab.ch/uscode/26usc . Several thousand lobbyists, businesses, special interest groups, labor groups, individuals and others are constantly trying to accomplish changes to the IRC to benefit their causes.
Changes are accomplished through the Congress and Senate and this gives the power to members of those legislative branches.  The President approves or disapproves the laws and the Supreme Court decides the Constitutionality of those laws passed.

According to the IRS in 2008 there were a bit over 142 million individual tax returns filed. There are many estimates as to how much time it takes on average to file a return. I will not enter into that arena of guessing however I bet it averages more than 10 hours per person. There are also 1.3 million accountants employed in the business of filing tax returns. Some guesses have been made as high as a total of 6.2 billion hours go into tax preparation and filings although this is an estimate.

To me it would be much better if the government did not have any controls over it’s citizens. I always thought that the citizens should have control over the government??? Have we given up on this right? How do we get our country back? By changing our tax code for one!

For years I have followed proponents of the FAIR TAX.  I really like the idea as it would be fair to everyone who buys anything, it takes cash businesses out of the darkness, there would be no Internal Revenue Code and no filing of individual income taxes…which means a very strongly reduced IRS with limited power. How nice would that be? If you haven’t heard of this yet…I hope that you will do some reading…John Linder and Neal Boortz are the proponents of this Bill and have published several books on The Fair Tax...The Fair Tax Book: Saying Goodbye to the Income Tax and the IRS [Paperback] Neal Boortz , John Linder

The Fair Tax

The Fair Tax Act

First proposed in Congress in 1999, the Fair Tax Act has since been re-introduced at the beginning of each new congressional session. Some of the most respected federal lawmakers have signed on to help sponsor this bill each time a new congressional session begins. Georgia’s Saxby Chambliss helped sponsor this bill in the Senate, while Georgia Rep. John Linder did so in the House. While this bill hasn’t been passed, it is gaining new sponsors every year.  Read more: The Fair Tax Act | eHow http://www.ehow.com/about_6668942_fair-tax-act.html#ixzz2VlWQCOu9

We could do our country and it’s citizens a tremendous service by understanding how a flat tax would work and to realize all the advantages that are available to us. Are you interested? Why not?

I believe the key question is whether Americans can realize the powerful advantages of The FAIR TAX and insist that our Legislators do the right things for America by passing the Bill!

Decision Making Process and Critical Thinking Skills

Critical Thinking Skills
Einstein - Critical Thinking

Which is more important? The Decision Making Process or Critical Thinking Skills? Yesterday my post focused on the Decision Making Process...the steps…the importance of the very first decision in the process deciding “do I have a need”? And if you get this first decision wrong then obviously you have made a bad decision on the entire subject. For example, if you are making a decision as to whether you may need professionals to help you with a specific area of need and you decide that you don’t have a need in that area, when in fact you obviously do have a need, then you have ignored the need, not understood the potential consequences of ignoring the need, or you decide that you will take the risk and the consequences which typically is an irresponsible conclusion.

Just Look Up The Answers
Just Look Up The Answers

I am sure that none of my readers want to consider themselves irresponsible.  Probably the most recurring conclusion is that…yes, I have the need but cannot afford to do anything about it. If this is the case then your income is not at the right levels and that is certainly an issue. You need to be talking with a competent person who can help you earn more money!

From Wikipedia on Critical Thinking

Critical thinking is an important component of most professions. It is a part of formal education and is increasingly significant as students progress through university to graduate education,

Critical Thinking Skills
Decision Making Process

I see many very intelligent professionals make incorrect decisions on the first decision question in the decision process…“do I have a need?”  This specifically applies in the case of the decision on “do I need the services of a financial advisor, a CPA, a law firm, a business consultant or trainer, an insurance broker,  or a doctor”. Much of my life has been devoted to working with responsible people who realize that their lives can be much better if they elect to select and work with professionals in these fields. In building my practice as a financial advisor I found more than (300) people who agreed that it would be in their best interests to work with a professional financial advisor and respected company.

I consider that your decisions on these key issues really decide what level of financial independence you will ever achieve.RealLife I would encourage you as professionals and good business managers to rethink your decisions on key needs to accomplish financial independence and ask yourself…do I really need that professional or am I just kidding myself that I can do it myself? I assure you my friend if you have decided that you are going to do all of your professional jobs yourself, you will never have the opportunity to achieve financial independence. There is a thin line between mediocrity and brilliance…the same for excellent success and just getting by. Some describe it as an “edge”. What do you prefer for you and your family? Tomorrow’s post…a review of key professionals that I know can help you tremendously! Sometimes you may not know the right solutions for your needs.

Tips to get Google to index your website quickly

 | February 13, 2013

Now that you are finally satisfied with the website theme and that all the widgets and plugins are in place, it’s time to introduce your website to the world. If you do not have any such experience prior to this, then allow me to assure you that it’s not something that will happen overnight. At least not unless you do something about it.

With so many websites (new and existing) screaming “Find Me”, how do you stand out from them when it comes to getting search engines like Google to notice your website? Fortunately, there are some things that you can do to quicken Googlebot’s crawl.

So You Want To Know What To Do With Social Media?

Internet Marketing Strategy
Internet Marketing Strategy
www.businessmarketingblog.org

There are many Americans now that are seriously interested in starting their own business…either full time or part-time. If you are one of those and have some questions about how to get started…. especially with how to start with your internet marketing strategy including social media then this post is especially for you. First let’s say that social media consists of a very broad spectrum of companies,  however the key names now in social media are Facebook, Google, Twitter, Linkedin, Pinterest and and several more that are growing in importance every day. An internet marketing strategy also include more than just social media so  we must add at least at a minimum these:

  • individual internet websites
  • blog sites
  • news and magazine media
  • links between all of these.

So You Want To Know What To Do With Social Media?

So if you agree that this is a basic definition of the tools available from which to build an internet marketing strategy, and you want to start a business, where do you start deciding and where do you focus your time and energy? Do you need a website? Do you need a blog? Do you need a Facebook Page? A Twitter Page? A Google Community? What strategy can you develop for all of these. There is a beginning point that considers the “why” of all of these. Why would you do this or do that? What is the benefit? What are your goals?

Simple right?…just build a (……………) site….you fill in the blank because you have recently found a company that will make you rich in less than a year and you will be financially independent for the rest of your life. Hey… Please stop and wake up and smell the roses ok! Believe it or not, I have some important information for you to consider based on considerable personal experience. There are many in industry who can help you however finding a better source with honest motivations is not an easy task….and by the way you are already here on this site…so it behooves you to gain the opinion here and bounce it against any other opinion that you can find…ok! You may be just starting your new business, you may have a Facebook page, Google Page, a Pinterest page, a LinkedIn site or other site that is bringing you profits (or losses)! Even so, is what you have done the best possible strategy that you can take, or would you like to know more about how you can inform yourself of more comprehensive strategies? This week I connected on LinkedIn with a wonderful chap from Ireland and we talked today about his business. He is doing quite well with his direct selling business however wants to grow it with the internet. He very much believes in the idea of being open for business 24/7 as well as having prospects find him through Attraction Marketing and Blogging as opposed to him having to find all of his prospects through direct selling.  He is currently in the process of building a WordPress blog site which is an excellent decision, however he is not quite sure as to how to approach a strategy with the rest of the media websites.  With a 15-minute fun conversation between great guys from  Ireland and Orlando my new friend Bobby and I  shared important ideas that give him a new perspective that will allow him to leapfrog for couple of years what he can do next that can move his business forward much more rapidly.
