Have You Considered Working From Home?

  • What are the benefits? What are the challenges and  disadvantages? Can you work from home and own your own business? Will my employer allow me to work from home? All are key questions that deserve careful consideration and evaluation!
  • With our new options of working from home either on a part-time basis or a full-time basis…you now have the choice of enjoying your family and loved ones more or working together with them from a home location. This is a great choice…as you can consider the comparative costs of traveling to and from work, the amount of time required to do so,  the important consideration of whom you want to spend your working time with, the relative efficiency of either working at an office, traveling, on the road or at your home.  All of these choices now allow us a new degree of freedom if we choose to exercise it.  For those who can utilize good work practices and work ethics, then potentially they can be much more efficient.
  • I will say that the freedom to work from home creates some challenges…like will you watch that favorite tv program or apply yourself to your work…will you set good work hours for yourself and keep them…it is very easy to be distracted with so many things that go on within your home. Personally I worked in several areas many years in large offices on scheduled hours, in my own personal offices, traveling the U.S. Monday through Friday calling on companies and using my motel as my  office, in one case I drove to and from work 50 miles each way and then traveled 13 states via airplane and automobile, and for the last few years I have elected to work from my home office. Of all of the experiences that I have had, I find that a home office is the most desirable for me…and I can pack my bags and take my home office across the country to any location in Florida, the U.S. or Canada…and accomplish what needs to be done effectively.  One of the greatest advantages to working from home for me is have access and be near those that I care the most about…that is the ones I love as well as my friends. When I spent most of my time each day at the office or on the road, I really missed the interaction with my loved ones. This is by far the greatest advantage that I hear from those who work from home.
  • Many people need the structure of going to an office to be with their other workers every day, or perhaps the work requires that they be present in order to accomplish what needs to be done. In any case, we now have an estimated 40 to 50 million people who are now working either part-time or full-time from home…or a traveling home at their choice. And given the economic environment and since the internet is only some 20 years old now, we are heading into a direction of many more people working from home…and using the internet and the phone as their telecommunications devices.

So studies have been completed to date comparing the pluses and minuses of where you work…there is yet to be grand comparison prepared about which is most efficient however some meaningful studies are emerging.

In summary, my opinions are that the option to work from home opens up many new opportunities and choices of where we want to work, and dependent upon your work requirements, your personal preferences for managing your own time, enjoying your freedom more, spending more time with your loved ones, all enter greatly into the equation of what you would like to do. I do strongly recommend that you consider all options available to you, and the underlying constraints of each. It is an important decision to make as you plan your career and I hope that you will give it ample and due consideration when the time comes.

Call it telecommuting, telework or working from home: It appears more of us are earning at least part of our salaries from home, and with the boss’s blessings.

According to a survey by the human resources group WorldatWork, the number of Americans who work either from their homes or remotely at least one day a month rose by 74% between 2005 and 2008, to more than 17 million. And if you add to that figure the so-called “contract telecommuters” — folks who are self-employed or run their own businesses — the number jumps to nearly 34 million people.

Consider A Plan For Personal and Small Business Risks

Do you or your family ever feel at risk about anything? You may be so fortunate that you are blessed with total “peace of mind”! Or maybe some risks concern you. If they do then the next question is do you think you should do anything to minimize those risks? This post suggests that you take a few minutes to reflect on major risk areas in your lives and decide if you should take any actions. As humans, we are much more concerned with fear than with any other emotion that we experience…so why not explore ways to address our fears?

To determine if you face these warning signs ask yourself the following questions…

1.  Does your current career provide you with necessary income for all your needs…if you stayed in that position for at least the next five years?

         a.  Your basic living needs…your shelter, transportation, clothing, utilities, insurances?

         b.  Does it provide for your and your family’s educational, recreational and vacation needs?

         c.   Does it provide for savings for important purchases and retirement?

2.  Do you have confidence that your career will provide stability and income growth to satisfy all of  these needs during the next five years?

3. Are you happy in what you are doing in your career?    What would you prefer to do?

4. Do you feel confident that your career will be available to you 5 years from now?

If you feel good about your answers to the above questions I commend you strongly. Even so one needs to face the reality that the average length of time that a person remains in the same job is about 2.7 years.

And here is the good news…No matter what your personal goals for your income, your career, your future financial status…you can accomplish in this society whatever you want to accomplish…you have heard this many times.

I see the reality of accomplishment of whatever anyone wants every day.

In my opinion the solution is to use your determination and intelligence to find the proper employment solutions (and I emphasize multiple income streams as solutions) for you that provides the income, time and personal freedom that you want to enjoy. Is there effort? Yes! Is it difficult to find those multiple income streams that can satisfy your needs? Yes. What is great for one person may be the absolutely wrong solution for another. I do not suggest that one solution fits all. I do suggest that if you employ the proper strategies and research your alternatives properly that you can find solutions that will provide for your life’s needs.

So What Options Should You Consider?

It is very challenging to be aware of all of the income producing opportunities that are available.  A person can invest more time and money than necessary in evaluating and participating in multiple opportunities to the extent that they invest a lot and earn very little. Many entrepreneurs wind up jumping from opportunity to opportunity because they did not take the time and talk with experienced people in business to discuss the questions they should ask before committing to a venture. Because of this very few people really make good incomes on the internet.

My information says that less than 3% of internet marketers truly make the incredible monthly incomes and up to 7% are just now reporting profitability. Does this alarm you? If it doesn’t it should. A word to the wise should be sufficient.

I firmly believe in multiple income streams which I call “income diversification”.  I do not want to rely upon one or two streams of income as I have found that no matter how good something may be, there are factors out of my control that can affect the performance of any income stream. So therefore I recommend building more than one income stream over time to avoid the risk of bad performance, the same as I recommended as a financial advisor to diversify your investments. Diversification in different classes of investments within the investment world is a sound strategy, and in my opinion, diversification can also be very effective for a personal income strategy.

Even though the significant geographic separation of each of us we were able to jointly collaborate on the design of the book. I rewrote the book, Edwin gave his editor approval comments, and Deanna redesigned the cover as well as formatted, proofed and contributed to the interior pages…and within three weeks  the book has now been published for international distribution on 7/20/2013… on both CreateSpace which publishes paperback versions and Amazon Kindle KDP which provides the electronic E-Book versions. I will go first and tell you what I want!

One of my reasons for writing a post most every day is that I enjoy researching the day’s best content out there…to keep up with the pulse of what is going on…and to be able to share some interesting information with you that you may like as well. If you enjoy what you are reading I would really appreciate hearing from you some way…whether it is by phone across country…by email or in the “Comments” at the bottom of the post. I really enjoy hearing from you. I am a real person and I would like to understand what you are looking for…and might say…this is not for you…or the contrary…see the paragraph below.whatdoyouwant1

And one of the real advantages of owning your own blog and domain is that you have the opportunity to write about that which is most important and relevant to yourself and to your audience. A key goal in writing a blog is to develop a following who enjoy what you have to say and benefit from those same things. So I will continue to define for you who I think I am writing for…and perhaps you will confirm or deny that with your comments. I mentioned recently that I am looking to find those of any age and circumstance who are capable of earning $30,000 to $100,000+ a year and have a sincere interest in doing something about it. I read a great blog post today where Robert Kiyosaki said that there are 3 kinds of people that are not suited for this kind of business…and it was highly interesting and right on. You will be labeled, like it or not. If you earn the label of, “person who builds things, ships them and sells them to someone who values them…” you’re way ahead of the pack. You’re going to be doing this for a long time. When you have the chance, engage with the market, declare victory, make the sale.

How do you answer that question? There must be many answers that you have.  This is not a question to get into your personal life about your spouse or partner…or with your kids…or with your family members…or with your neighbors or friends…that is absolutely your personal business and I will not go there. What I am asking you is a fundamental basic question about how your BUSINESS and INCOME LIFE is proceeding.

I am writing to connect in this blog with those who can usually earn $30,000 to $100,000+ when they have the opportunity. And I qualify this by saying “usually earn” because these are not usual times. Our economy and country are upside down in my humble opinion…and we have nothing that even resembles “usual opportunity”. I am sure that Jack and George and Sue and Kim and Robert will not all say yes to the question “I am happy” with my business life. More than likely all of these are thinking of some ways to do something about it.

And with that backdrop…let me get to my points about “Are You Happy In Your Business Life?”

My first question to you is…”are you (and your spouse or partner) earning enough income to set aside all of the pieces of money” that 1) buys the groceries, 2) pays the mortgage or rent, 3) pays the utility bills, 4) pays for all the protection risks that you have, 5) pays for the automobile(s), 6 ) buys the gas at whatever prices the Far East decides you should pay…(seems to me that we should have a major say in what we pay), 6) pays for your kids education now or sets aside money for future education  (if you should be fortunate enough to have any), 7) allows for your family vacations, 8) provides for personal and family nights out to enjoy life, and most importantly 9) you have a cash reserve of 3-6 months of necessary expenses…most people have a hard time with this one…it is so important to financial independence.

What Will It Take?
Are You Happy Now?independence.

If you cannot answer yes to all of the above questions. and your answers concern you, then you really need to consider effective options as to how you can “be happy with your answers”.

We have so many millions of people that are in need of the “American Dream” solutions that we once knew…then I ask you personally and individually to get in contact with me to talk about your future. Could multiple income streams bring you financial independence?

 

First let me explain what I mean by multiple income streams. Let’s say that you are employed and for example that your employer pays you weekly with a pay check of $700 take home pay. This would be your first income stream. Now suppose that with your spare time someone could show you how you could develop three more extra streams of income over time and that you get paid twice each month for each of those income streams. Over time, these three extra income streams have the potential to grow. On the other hand, your employer is under extreme government regulation and pressures and may have to cut your work week to less than 30 hours or to lay you off in order to get his number of employees under 50 to avoid health care cost penalties. So the bottom line is that your $700 weekly net income is at some risk where if you had three extra income streams you have the opportunity of growing them, and under a worst case scenario, you could fall back on those extra streams to help you pay for your basic needs. Who knows, you may be able to develop your extra income streams to exceed that of your employment income. How great would that be? What could you do then? Personally, I call it the first major step in achieving financial independence!

Or you could be totally without any income right now and need to get started earning money fast…in that case you need to call me as soon as you finish reading this…

Let’s say the first of these three extra income streams is that of representing a product or service that many people need and want and some of those that you tell about it elect to buy the product and you can within a reasonable time make an average of $500 per month. The second income stream is also that of representing another related product or service that many people need and want and some of those that you tell about it elect to buy the product and you can make on average $400 per month.  This is the same approach as the first extra income stream.

Now for the third income stream you decide that you want to create a 24/7 internet business that works for you while you are away. Let’s say that this third income stream provides you with an Attraction  Marketing system that shows you how to construct a Blog on which you could build a presence, develop a following, and offer something of value to customers that shares your unique knowledge and expertise.  Let’s say after six months you are realizing an income of some $1,500 per month from the results of your marketing plan and your Blog and related marketing efforts. Of course six months is a just a beginning and opens up more doors of opportunity. What you have accomplished is an extremely important strategy that is used in the investment of money to protect it and make it grow…something called “diversification”…in this case of your incomes. “If you look at our fans, they’re pretty much all realtors,” says Anne Austen-Lewis, who handles social media marketing for the Anaheim, Calif., exterminator. Realtors are a key client since getting a pest control check is a necessary step in buying a new house in California. Bug Out, a 25-year-old business (it was known as Masterpest Termite Control until a couple of years ago), already draws leads from its email lists and has a fairly well-developed SEO program. I am now watching Jesse Watters, the investigative reporter, on O’Reilly on Fox…how incredibly interesting….so many of our citizens are so out of touch with what is happening in our country….unbelievable.

And now Dennis Michael Lynch, a filmmaker on Sean Hannity’s show for an hour telling the country in great detail what the greatest threat is to our country…terrorists coming across the Mexican border…how very scary…let’s all see this man’s film…he is so concerned that the Senate passed their Bill on Immigration this week…his film which is showing across the country and exposes this risk…and not even being addressed by the gang of eight Senators involved…the film is called “The Cost of Amnesty”.

Background

During the American Revolution, the legal separation of the Thirteen Colonies from Great Britain occurred on July 2, 1776, when the Second Continental Congress voted to approve a resolution of independence that had been proposed in June by Richard Henry Lee of Virginia declaring the United States independent from Great Britain.  After voting for independence, Congress turned its attention to the Declaration of Independence, a statement explaining this decision, which had been prepared by a Committee of Five, with Thomas Jefferson as its principal author. Congress debated and revised the wording of the Declaration, finally approving it on July 4. A day earlier, John Adams had written to his wife Abigail:

The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more. And now you are saying what in the world is he talking about? “Will Content Marketing Improve Decision Making”? Ok,  stay with me now because it is important that you understand what this means to you…especially if you are someone thinking about running a business…however it applies to moms, dads and kids as well…of any age!

The topic today may sound a bit lofty however when you look at trends today it is hard to find topics that are more appealing than 1) making good decisions, 2) content marketing which is the same as attraction marketing, education marketing and inbound marketing, and 3) the growing awareness that we need Wills, Living Wills, Health Care Power of Attorney documents and in some cases Trust documents. This may sound surprising as our news media is far from these topics, however when you check today’s trends these are very high on the list.  And so you say…so what?

Let me give an example as to why this is important to all of us. Yesterday I wrote a blog post entitled Save Money On Vital Personal Needs!For anyone that read it the post was about  1) saving a lot of money on estate planning documents including Wills, Living Wills and Health Care POA documents , 2) protecting against the loss of significant money in the event of traffic citations or accidents by parents or children, and 3) for saving a lot of money on learning and implementing a marketing system on content/attraction marketing just in case you may have or are going to start a business.  The potential value of these three topics is more than $100,000 for the average American family and easily can be more than a $1,000,000. This is not pocket change we are talking about. Why did I write about these topics?…because I researched what the American people are talking about willandtestatmentnow and these topics are important to them. So my first point to make with you is that by your taking the time to read the content/attraction marketing post you learned about very valuable steps that you could take to create, manage and protect your financial independence. The second point I would like to make with you is that by reading that post, you now know more than 50% of the population about these three topics, what they are worth, and how you can put them to work for you for your benefit. The key word here is that you are now aware where you were not aware before. What is that worth to you? The third point is that with the information on that post if you took the time you could learn the detailed descriptions of what those solutions consisted of, how much they cost, and how much potentially they could save you. Would you typically get this much information in your usual decision processes? How? Listen to a salesperson?autoinsurance Now you have a very intelligent way to evaluate options. And you know what…you did all of this learning in the nice comfort of your own home or place where-ever you were, and there was no presentation by anyone in a coffee shop or your dining room table, and it was quick and efficient, and you could stop and take care of something else if you needed to do so. So does any of this make sense to you? Do you begin to get a better grasp of why the power of the internet is bringing ways for us to be more efficient, more effective and to help us to make better decisions? And then we can take that time that we saved and learn about the decision-making process. So why not apply now what you learned to gain the benefits?
