Attorney At Law

Why are they so important to us?

What should you do about protecting yourself? Now or later?

Topic for the Day!

Why an ongoing relationship with an “Attorney At Law” and “Law Offices” are wise choices. For many years we have been taught by our insurance agents, financial advisors and tax accountants that it is wise to carry personal insurance to cover risks of loss to our homes and property including autos, boats, motorcycles, disability, life, health, long-term care and other similar coverages. Typically this protection is all organized in what is called your “risk management plan”. The reason for carrying these kinds of coverages is to protect your assets and your income against risk of loss, to accomplish replacement in certain cases, and to avoid catastrophe.

During the last 20 years our North American and Canadian societies have evolved to create substantial new risks which pose significant threats to our assets, freedoms, liberty, wealth and identity. For example, we have now become extremely litigious societies and in the U.S. some 4200 new lawsuits are filed each day for a total of about 15 million lawsuits last year. In North America the average citizen has need for an attorney on average of 1-3 times each year. Small businesses are prime targets for frivolous lawsuits and justifiable lawsuits as well. Identity Theft and Identity Fraud have been the leading complaints for the FTC for 12 consecutive years, last year totaling more than 12 million cases. ID Theft and ID Fraud have surpassed illegal drug dealing as the most expensive crime losses. 20 years ago we did not have the internet and now more than 500 - 1000 people are scammed every day by national and international criminals. In Germany, more than 80% of the population there carries legal plans for protection whereas in the U.S. only 4-7% have such protection. In some foreign countries you cannot obtain a driver’s license without a legal plan.

My point in raising these facts is to create awareness and recognition that we are now more at risk in the legal world and our personal identity world than ever before, and for risks that are much greater in many cases than for what we are paying insurance premiums.  As explanation for this I believe that many are ignoring the risks either due to financial constraints or because we have very few champions who are raising the level of importance and awareness of these risk areas. We are so busy in our society that any thing that takes longer than 30 seconds of our time will probably not hold our attention. The media reports incidents as news…sometimes not as something that we should protect ourselves against. Insurance and financial advisor professionals can be of great service to their clients by becoming familiar with what is available and acknowledging that these new risks can adversely affect you.

Marketing and Sales

Who needs the internet?

Today’s topic!

Do you need the internet? Do you need it for marketing and sales? Or maybe you just like it for entertainment?

Why does the internet seem to have a much greater appeal to many people than television? Could it be that you can get very concise, useful, correct and interesting information from the internet?

Could it be that television is designed to entertain some with what I call mediaphobia…non-mind challenging blah that the low information sector seems to consume in great volume. I remember what pablum was for children and that is a majority of the diet that the mainstream media  feeds today to a dumbed down audience. This is true for many of their entertainment programs as well as for much of their biased news reporting. It is a professional disservice to the American people to choose not to provide accurate reporting on issues critical to each of us and this country. Not sure about you however I am really open to good, honest, all-American reporting as we once had. Now back to the internet.

In 1993 the internet was not even available to the public. That was only 20 years ago. If the internet is just reaching an adult age can you fathom where it will be in another 20 years…not just the internet…but digital technology…the ways we talk with each other around the world…the ways we are connected with each other…I am so pleased to talk with people around the world that I have never met…how very interesting…language barriers yes…however we have such excellent language translators now…can you imagine that you will be able to talk with anyone in the world online with immediate translation of your and their language…this is just around the corner. And we have mammoth worldwide communication developments happening around the world…if you would like to know more you can let me know you are interested…and these are mammoth and huge…if you like to get in on the ground floor of happenings to affect initially 178 countries of the world you need to tap in here with me.

Identity Theft

Identity Theft

What is Identity Fraud?

ID Fraud Incraasing
Identity Fraud Increasing

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Identity fraud may occur when someone steals personal information, opens credit card accounts in the victim’s name without permission, and charges merchandise to those accounts. Conversely, identity fraud does not occur when a credit card is simply stolen. Stealing one’s credit card may be consumer fraud, but is not identity fraud. Identity fraud is a synonym of unlawful identity change. It indicates unlawful activities that use the identity of another person or of a non-existing person as a principal tool for merchandise procurement.

Identity fraud can occur without identity theft, as in the case where the fraudster has been given someone’s identity information for other reasons but uses it to commit fraud, or when the person whose identity is being used is colluding with the person committing the fraud…

Protecting your child’s identity

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

We’re told to monitor our credit, to protect ourselves from identity theft. But who knew to apply that same wisdom to our offspring? Last year the number of identity theft victims reached 12.6 million, up 1 million from the previous year, according to a Javelin Strategy and Research Identity Fraud Report released Feb. 20, 2013.

According to the AllClear ID 2012 Child Identity Theft Report, about one in every 40 households with young children is being affected. “Child identity theft is a fast-growing crime,” said Robert Chappell, a veteran Virginia State Police Officer and author of “Child Identity Theft: What Every Parent Needs to Know.” “Criminals target children because kids have clean credit records and the theft can go undetected for years.

How to get rich

How Do You Get Rich?
How Do I Get Rich?

  • How to get rich

Topic of the day!

Incredibly…there are very small differences in actions between mediocrity and abundant success. Jeff Olson in his book “The Slight Edge” is generating huge attention on the subject of making decisions every day that can improve your life…and then you taking small actions on those decisions to create the improvement. This is an incredible story that I will give more attention below. The slight edge is a major support theory to what I am saying to you in this blog and posts every day.

We have talked about “The Secret” and “The Law of Attraction” which essentially states that you can achieve whatever you put your mind to accomplish.

We have “Attraction Marketing Strategies” that teach us how to attract our prospects, customers, networks and friends to us by emanating positive attraction approaches.

We have talked about how you can protect your families and businesses better in a very risky, litigious society. We have talked about how to protect your personal identity and your wealth and why that is so important.

Each of these topics or options present to us a choice of taking actions or not taking actions that could be very beneficial to us. First you need to know the information and options and secondly you need to consider your goals and your lifestyle to decide if they make sense to you.

Let me just give you an exciting example of a slight edge or difference in the way that words are used in our society. Would you believe that there are 19,950,000 more people in the world now asking the question “How Do I Get Rich” or “How Do You Get Rich” than are asking the questions “How To Get Rich” or “How Get Rich”?  If you are in any kind of business, do you think that it is important that you are aware of this phenomenon?

How do you get rich? First we need to dispel the common American Myth that you get there with a lottery ticket. On the contrary I think this blog is giving you information and options every day for you to make decisions about and to act upon. It is up to you to decide what it is that you want to change in your life to improve it significantly, whether it is losing 80 pounds, or improving the relationship with your spouse, or starting another income stream, or making your current business more successful, or protecting your family better. I suggest that this blog is presenting the basic structure and foundation of ways to show you “How Do You Get Rich”.  When you decide on your directions and begin to take action I believe it will truly enrich your lives.

The Slight Edge is a book by Jeff Olson that is a way of thinking, a way of processing information that enables you to make the daily choices that will lead you to the success you desire.  The Slight Edge is “the key” that will make all the other how-to’s and self-help information that you read, watch and hear actually work. I encourage you to read a copy of this book found on Amazon.

Identity Theft

Identity Theft

Can You Afford To Take Time Away From Work To Restore Your Identity?

Topic of the day:

ID Theft Laptop
Identity Theft by Laptop It seems to me that we hear about so many occurrences of Identity Theft that I believe that many people just disregard current reports with the belief that 1) it will never happen to me  or 2) my bank will take care of it and 3) since I don’t buy anything on the internet then I am not at risk.

Identity Theft in 2012 was for the 12th year the highest incidence of crime reported to the FTC and increasing in frequency.  Identity Theft occurs in five major areas, not just on bank instruments and credit cards. It also occurs on Social Security numbers and especially income tax filing, Medicare and medical records with your insurance ID numbers, with driver’s license numbers, with pure theft of someone’s name and identification, and on the internet by data theft. Banks do not monitor all of these numbers and possibilities so they cannot protect you for everything if that is what you believe.

Since no-one can stop identity theft the solutions are to monitor to see when it happens and to take immediate corrective actions as quickly as possible after finding that it has happened.

Who can monitor all of these possible areas for you? What kind of company and employees do you think are required to perform this kind of monitoring? Are you in a position to leave your job for several weeks or months to restore your identity in case it is stolen? Do you know who to contact to restore your identity? Will you be allowed access to data banks that contain the information which will show where your data has been compromised? Just because you may have an insurance policy to correct some of your losses, who is going to perform the restoration actions for you? Will you get reimbursed for everything including your time?

Do you think that you may be a bit naive about protecting and restoring your identity as well as the protection of your spouse and your children? Children are prime targets as their social security numbers are not used until age 18. It would benefit you greatly for you to read the next three articles to enlighten yourself as to what solutions are available for the horrendous crime that can virtually destroy your life.

God Bless America!

God Bless America!
God Bless America!

God Bless America!
Land That We Love!

What a horrific week for Americans…Boston first and then West Texas. Our heartfelt sympathies and strong  prayers go out to all those who are suffering and grieving over the loss of family and friends from both of these tragic events.  And a tremendous amount of gratitude goes to all of the first responders including all of the police, fire fighters, EMS, FBI, hospital medical professionals and anyone who were so committed to bringing justice to bear and help others. The cheers, shouts of USA and flag waving by many young people in the streets of Boston were very encouraging and made me proud of our country!  May all those we lost rest in peace and in God’s Grace as we move forward from these tragedies.

It is obvious that our country is in tremendous transition and with great challenges, both domestically and internationally. Americans have always found a way to overcome incredible obstacles before and I have hope and I will pray that we can do so again. This time it is considerably more challenging as the American people do not seem united except in tragedy…or it seems to me to be that way. I have the impression that approximately half the population wants a very strong social agenda and continued excessive spending and the other half of the population wants to balance the budget as normal human beings do who cannot live on government handouts….handouts that really come from you and me as tax paying citizens.

Those people who balance their budget monthly are also considered financially sound and principled. One half of the American population is  looking for intelligence, strength and non-political leadership to show us the way to save our country and all the people who are suffering …from tragedy as well as from the inept economic decisions and destructive overspending policies that have been practiced for the last several years. Especially including the congressional lawmaking by incompetent congressmen and senators who have a large responsibility for our current situation…and here I point directly to Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. Politicians have found ways to make themselves very wealthy and exempt from the policies that apply to citizens like you and me…which is extremely disturbing.

And in addition to having an international set of sword rattlers who are flexing their muscles with the threat of nuclear bombs and missiles, we have the jihad religious groups growing in population in every country and insisting upon death of anyone who does not believe in jihad principles. As we do not and never will believe in these extremist political/religious views…Islamic Jihadism is not just religious views…it also includes their way of law which means annihilation of millions of people…and the street bombings and IUD bombings continue as they did by two young jihadists this week…radical Islam is at work around the world to destroy humanity. And we need very much to have presidential  leadership that will acknowledge this truth and take appropriate action. How do we stop the jihad clerics presiding over both the religious views and the political views of a massive population.  I do not believe we can deal legally with these issues as civil matters..these are terrorist matters and our presidential and attorney general leadership needs to call it what it really is…may God Bless America!

During my lifetime I have heard many times that…that about 25% of our population are “crazy”…including psychiatrists…LOL…however it seems that we have a larger percentage of citizens that do not practice rational thinking which includes making good decisions. When you add those on alcohol and drug dependence we may have more than 25% who are incapable of being responsible for themselves in this society…wow…do we have an uphill challenge to get in control of all these things or not? This is why we see such awful legislation coming out of our Washington leadership…there are so many partisan groups pandering to satisfy (and so many lobbyists with so much money influence)  that we cannot reach rational conclusions…for example..the current major oil pipeline decision which could clearly place this country in a positive economic position were it not for political and sociological pressures.

And finally, regardless of the above, I have endless hope for any individual that wants to help themselves, and I encourage anyone that has reached a decision that they want to do better in their financial lifestyle  to give me a call. We will have a friendly chat if nothing else.

May God Bless All! And May God Bless America!

Live That Dream!

Steffie's Treasures
Steffie’s Treasures

About four years ago one of my fellow Christian Emmaus Brothers elected to move to another city to nearer to one of his best friends. My friend had received severe combat injuries while fighting for our country and in my opinion is a brave warrior for our country.  I had the privilege of briefly meeting his lady friend during that moving process, and at that time I introduced myself as a financial advisor working with individuals and small businesses.

This week I learned that this lady had been searching for my telephone number to contact me as she has developed a terrific dream of providing lovely quilts for nursing home patients, and her dream is to first build an internet business of quilt providers and contributors and eventually to have a storefront business for the same purpose. Her idea is really non-profit as she wants to benefit the nursing home patients with lovely quilts, benefit many talented lady quilt makers with a way to market their quilts, and to hopefully gain charitable revenues for associated christian organizations through tithes and contributions.

Her reason for seeking me out was to gain my advice on how to get started in her business. I was delighted to talk with her on the phone for over an hour where we talked over her legal needs to get her business started, her need to develop a business plan to give her business direction, and then to talk about a marketing approach using attraction marketing methods to promote her new business, which is now only about one month old.

For me this entire conversation totally confirmed my reasoning for developing this blog that you are reading now. I know that there are thousands of people that need direction in starting a new business or adjusting the direction of their current business or lifestyle in some ways that would be very helpful. This is exactly what I am working to do with this blog and posts…to provide information and tips to help individuals manage their lives, be more secure and manage their small businesses better so as to make them more prosperous.  I also know that it will take time for individuals to get to know me and trust me that I can help them in this process.  References are available on request.

Terrorist Attacks

Terror Attacks on American's Security at Boston Marathon
Terror Attacks on American’s Security at Boston Marathon

Terrorist Attacks

Security for you! Everywhere!

Today was so sad for the people present at the Boston Marathon. By all indications terrorists who hate our people and country apparently exploded at least two bombs in the middle of Boston today…killing 3 and injuring some 141 according to news reports. Ball bearings are being removed from victims. What cruel acts of violence by cowardly idiots on innocent people and bystanders.

To me it raises the question of Security…for our country internationally, at home nationally, and for each of us as citizens. Security means many different things to me…how about you? What steps can we take to maximize our security in all of these venues? Bomb5ipad_635x250_1366077943.gif

Internationally it means that our president, our military forces, intelligence complex, congress and senate must be wise, deliberate and non-political in protecting our country. It seems that we are facing power hungry, defiant madmen and religious fanatics in many sectors of the world. Within our own country our federal and state police, along with the heads of key federal and state departments, must be very responsible and make good decisions. It seems ironic that the federal government states that our borders have never been more secure while the governors of states experiencing unlawful immigration say that the borders have never been protected so poorly.

In a city the size of Boston, which reveres the celebration of Patriots Day annually, and the running of the Boston Marathon, the police were not able to prevent lunatics and hate mongers from plotting to kill and injure so many innocent people. What a sad commentary on the state of our nation and around the world, within the country, and within major cities like Boston and New York.

It is now May 15, 2013 and I am updating this post to reflect some of what happened since the Boston Marathon. There were two brothers responsible, one of whom is dead and the second now incarcerated. Reports indicate they were aspiring jihadists. The death and injury toll increased from the initial days reports. Each of those injured or killed in all likelihood is suffering immensely as a result of these attacks. Hospital bills..doctor bills…mental anguish…suffering…pain…loss of income…there is untold damage and hurt..  Even though there is no way that anyone can be repaid for loss of a limb or their life, my point is that terrorist attacks bring havoc and damage to the American people and whether it be by bombing or by theft, American citizens are being harmed and need protection whenever possible.

Is this the America we want? It is certainly not the America that I have known for many years. I submit that we have a responsibility to demand better than what we have…much better!

Refreshing Your Content for Better Results

Laura Lee Sparks               March 19th, 2013

Your marketing materials are so important for reaching out to prospective clients. The time and effort that goes into creating the perfect web site or brochure can be intense, but the simple choice of words can play a pretty significant role in the number of folks who make it through the front door. We live in a time when content gets stagnant pretty quickly, though, so don’t forget to revisit your content and give it some tweaking from time to time.

How does identity theft affect the society?

Identity Theft Issues

In the course of a busy day, you may write a check at the grocery store, charge tickets to a ball game, rent a car, mail your tax returns, change service providers for your cell phone, or apply for a credit card. In each transaction, you reveal bits of personal information, like your bank and credit card account numbers; your income; your Social Security number (SSN); or your name, address, and phone numbers - a goldmine of information for an identity thief. Once a thief has that information, it can be used without your knowledge to commit fraud or theft.

Identity theft is a serious crime. Would you like to discuss solutions that will help to protect you against the consequences?

Let’s Bring Back The American Dream!

American Dream

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The American Dream is a national ethos of the United States, a set of ideals in which freedom includes the opportunity for prosperity and success, and an upward social mobility achieved through hard work. In the definition of the American Dream by James Truslow Adams in 1931, “life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement” regardless of social class or circumstances of birth.[1]

The idea of the American Dream is rooted in the United States Declaration of Independence which proclaims that “all men are created equal” and that they are “endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable Rights” including “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

______________________________________________________________________________

Do you remember that the United States was once the land of “The American Dream”? I do and it was really true! I listened to the economics numbers today and was amazed to hear where our country has plummeted from the leadership position of leading the world in virtually all measurements. Our situation is highly disturbing and one which I call upon all Americans to express their strong concerns and wishes to all of our elected political leaders.

If you didn’t hear the numbers today…I want to share them with you…

Number of Americans eligible for work however not working last week: 90 Million

Number of Americans that stopped looking for work last week: 663,000

Number of Americans filing for employment for first time last week: 388,000

Number of Americans filing for disability last week 82,000

Number of Americans total on disability last week 8 million

Number of Americans that dropped out of the work force last week 500,000

With the reduced number of jobs and people looking for work 7.6% unemployment rate.

Actual population of the United States June 2012 - 314 million
Actual unemployment rate when considering all people eligible for work 15.0%

Also Capital wealth of Americans now reduced 25%-40% during last few years

Now that we see the reality of the situation it is so important that we understand the circumstances of millions of Americans and find ways to reach out to them with jobs, opportunity, hope and encouragement. This is not intended to be a political position on anyone…it is intended to be a sober statement of realization of where our country is and what we as citizens have the responsibilities for doing. I believe that we must focus on the economic welfare of our citizens and our country and use our energies constructively to bring about change that is healthy for all Americans. I for one am very grateful that I have an opportunity to pursue financial independence for myself as well as to reach out to many others and offer to many a hand as well!

12 Ways The ‘Law Of Attraction’ Can Improve Your Life

Aimee Groth and Ashley Lutz | Jul. 31, 2012

Psychologists, New Age thinkers and religious leaders have been talking about the Law Of Attraction for years, though it gained popularity again when the book “The Secret” made waves in 2006.

The law is simply this: We attract whatever we think about, good or bad.

Oprah is a fan of the law and devoted an episode of her show to how it could change lives.

Whether or not you believe in the power of the universe, there is scientific research that proves the effects of positive thinking.

We’ve highlighted the most compelling elements from one of the most popular books on the topic, The Law of Attraction: The Basics of the Teachings of Abraham, by Esther and Jerry Hicks.

Millions of people have now heard of The Secret , a theory which brings phrases like “positive thinking” and “the law of attraction” to everyday conversations. Although the The Secret is a fairly recent phenomenon, spiritual thinkers say they’ve been studying the concepts for years.

Acclaimed author Louise Hay is considered the mother of positive thinking. She is back to continue the conversation about the law of attraction, which is the basis of The Secret . “The law of attraction is that our thinking creates and brings to us whatever we think about,” she says. “It’s as though every time we think a thought, every time we speak a word, the universe is listening and responding to us.”

So Will You Ever Be Ready To Become Rich?

If you become what you think about…Are you ready to become rich?

Many believe that the Law of Attraction can be very important in the process!

imagesTheyBecomeRichandPowerful
Become Rich

Procrastination is a wonderful pastime! It allows us to enjoy the moment without any reason to be challenged! Unless you happen to be challenged by the world of opportunity that is offered to you every day! Would you really like to become rich?  Nowhere in the world…other than the United States…is there such freedom of opportunity, speech and pursuit of happiness. If you don’t know this then you should really travel the world and discover it for yourself.

Since we have this opportunity you would think that 50%+ of our population would be jumping on the chance to become financially independent, another way of saying becoming rich,  and to take advantage of the opportunities….and the numbers are growing but nowhere near what they should be.  But this will change. The current leadership will try to stop all creation of wealth or to take it away from the wealthy….but this kind of regime even with the compromising, unprofessional press will not stand. This is not America my friends….and the number of Americans unhappy with lack of employment, downgraded lifestyles, costs of fuel while buying it from the Mideast, rising food prices, more taxes, too much regulation on businesses, incorrect priorities for spending  , and having less fun is growing every day.

I thank you for reading my posts….and let me know what you would like for me to write about…enjoy!

Identity Theft By Stealing Your Tax Return Rebate

E-File Tax Identity Theft Fraud is Exploding: Here is How to Protect Yourself

by G.E. Miller on February 6, 2013

As with anything, when the majority of a population uses something, it usually becomes the target of malicious or criminal activity. Just ask Microsoft Internet Explorer engineers.

Now that over 80% of tax returns are e-filed with the IRS, the thieves have found clever ways to claim your tax refunds through fraudulent identity theft, as I alluded to in Monday’s tax return guide.

E-filing had such a good thing going there for its users – quicker returns, easier to catch errors, no trip to the post office, and the peace of mind that your return reached its destination. And the IRS loves e-filing because they result in easier audit pulls, electronic data storage, and fraud detection.

I once asked a doctor why he wanted it. His response: “I don’t really know.
